Abstract: Die vorliegende Erfindung beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Biarylalkoholen durch Elektrodimerisierung von Arylalkoholen, umfassend die folgenden Schritte: a) Herstellen einer Aryloxyverbindung des zu kuppelnden Alkohols mit einem Element aus der Gruppe B und Al; b) elektrolytische Oxidation und Kupplung der in a) erhaltenen Arylloxyverbindungen zu den entsprechenden Biarylderivaten; c) Freisetzen der gewünschten Biarylalkohole. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren ermöglicht die Dimerisierung von Arylalkoholen mit hoher Selektivität zum ortho -Produkt.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing biarylalcohols by means of the electrodimerisation of arylalcohols, said method comprising the following steps: a) an aryloxy compound of the alcohol to be coupled is produced with an element from the group B and Al; b) the aryloxy compounds obtained in a) are electrolytically oxidised and coupled to form the corresponding biaryl derivatives; and c) the desired biaryl alcohols are released. The inventive method enables the dimerisation of arylalcohols with a high degree of selectivity in order to obtain an ortho product.
