Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling a power pack charging circuit. While a device is connected to an electrical charging source, a determination is made that an operating condition of a device satisfies a condition for halting charging of a power pack of the device. While the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack output value is determined. While the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack charging circuit output characteristic is set to an output value that is determined based upon the power pack output value to preclude charging of the power pack.

Abstract: A full or half clamp for supporting a pipe from a mounting surface includes a plastic body portion having an arcuate recess with an arcuate length in excess of 180.degree. and opposite ends that are relatively thin and flexible to facilitate snap fitting of a pipe into the recess. A pivotable arm is integrally connected to the body portion of the full clamp by a hinge formed by a notch in an outer wall of the body portion. The arm includes an arcuate recess forming a continuation of the recess in the body portion when the arm is moved into engagement with the body portion. A plurality of circumferentially spaced, longitudinally extending plastic projections are provided on the inner wall of the recesses in both the body portion and arm for gripping the exterior surface of the pipe. One of the projections is located on the arm immediately adjacent the hinge to provide a well defined hinge line for the arm. The half clamp is desirably substantially identical in shape to the main body portion of the full clamp except that the hinge of the full clamp is eliminated from the half clamp, and the projection on the arm that is immediately adjacent the hinge of the full clamp is incorporated as part of the half clamp. This has the advantage that the same mold that is used to mold the full clamp can also be used to mold the half clamp simply by removing an insert that is used to form the hinge in the full clamp and by placing another insert in the mold to eliminate the portion of the arm beyond the projection immediately adjacent the hinge.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of determining a communications mode. An operating condition of a device is monitored to determine if the operating condition satisfies a condition for loss of charging of a power pack of the device. Examples of operating conditions that satisfy a condition for loss of charging of a power pack of the device include determining that a power pack temperature of the power pack exceeds a power reduction temperature threshold and determining that a net electrical current drawn from the power pack exceeds a net charging electrical current delivered to the power pack. In response to determining that an operating condition of a device satisfies a condition for loss of charging of a power pack of the device, a wireless communications mode of the device is switched from a first mode to a second mode, where the second mode consumes less energy than the first mode.

Abstract: An aviation vision apparatus. Its purpose assists a pilot's ability to fly an aircraft by providing increased visibility. The apparatus features an uncooled IR sensor for vision enhancement. An integrated window assembly is provided which permits the sensor to obtain its imagery. The apparatus also has an integrated aerodynamic enclosure. The apparatus features electronics responsible for window assembly window control functions and IR sensor control. The apparatus is a single line replaceable unit that receives control commands from the aircraft's head-down display or other control modules. The unit also provides for the video display.

Abstract: A device for lifting and manipulating hot trays, principally aluminum foil containers for food products, is constructed with a substantially tubular, insulating handle, and a pair of cranked tines projecting from the forward end of the handle. The separation between the tines, corresponding to the lateral dimension of the tray to be lifted, is adjustable by means of radial slots machined around the periphery of a bezel in the forward end of the handle and by allowing for the radial displacement of one, or both, of the cranked tines in the handle into engagement with a particular slot.
