Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide logical composite channel mapping in an MPEG network. SOLUTION: A logical channel table (LCT) or a composite channel using simple conventional channels provides the mapping of a logical channel number (LCN) representing a service and a transport stream ID/program number. An LCT entry includes a composite channel indicator, which when set to '1', indicates that the channel is a composite channel, and indicates a home channel of the composite channel. The LCT provides a composite channel table (CCT) to a decoder 10 so that a tuner 12 can be retuned to the actual program designated in the CCT for current viewing. Each entry in the CCT associates a composite channel number (CCN) with a LCN of the currently active service for the composite channel. These tables operate together with the definition of conventional MPEG-2 services to decode a multi-service transport stream. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for enabling a local-cable head-end operator to deliver the national programming service data while a subscriber for the data controls the access. SOLUTION: Video and audio data are prepared in the form of a packetized elementary stream having a header, a presentation time stamp, and the video itself. The packetized elementary stream is allocated into the payload section of one or more transport packets. Transport packets are usually 188 bits in length herein and include a synchronization block and prefix data followed by the payload data. The multiplex/encryptor (64) combines individual transport packets (62) into a frame of data (60). COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for multiplexing a plurality of digital services including auxiliary data services. SOLUTION: In a video system for processing compressed video data to obtain composite video data corresponding to a standard composite video signal form selected out of a plurality of standard forms, the system includes a processor 34, and a standard video expander 32 for obtaining expanded video data resulting from processing compressed data, and user data. VBI (vertical blanking interval) data are encoded to the user data and the processor 34 extracts the VBI data from the user data. A video interface 40 processes the expanded video data and the VBI data to provide composite video data. A video interface 40 is equipped with a VBI data generator for processing the VBI data to obtain VBI signal data, and a mixer for receiving the expanded video data and the VBI signal data to generate output Y, U, V data in a term of an active video portion of a scan line. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable TV system which provides conditional access to services. SOLUTION: This cable TV system includes a head end from which service "instances" or programs are broadcasted and a plurality of set-top units which receive the instances and selectively decrypt the instances in order to display them for a system subscriber. The service instances are encrypted by using public keys and/or private keys provided by a service provider or a center authority agent. The keys used by the set top for selective decryption may also have a public or secret characteristic. These keys are allocated again at different points of time. Thus, the cable TV system in which the risk of infringement activities is minimized is provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for facilitating a difficulty, caused by the number of selections increasing in an EPG, and to determine which item is selectable for partial users. SOLUTION: An electronic program guide (EPG) has a variable indicator (40, 50, 60, 70) to focus a user's attention upon a corresponding field of a selectable program instance (30, 52, 62, 74). The EPG includes a user interface screen (10) for providing a plurality of television program instances by time and channel in a grid menu. Each television program becomes selectable from the EPG based upon user interaction. The indicator is configured based upon attributes of the currently selectable program instance. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a wide-screen TV signal to be displayed in wide-screen and non-wide-screen receivers without introducing a geometrical distortion by utilizing a selecting signal and displaying the selected part of a wide-screen picture of the standard receiver. SOLUTION: Luminance data is written in a luminance line storage device 402 in sampling frequency and read in lower frequency. In a same way, color data is written in a color line storage device 406 by the sampling frequency and read by the lower frequency. While one line storage device 404 (408) is read, the other line storage device 402 (406) is written. Then, the wide-screen TV signalis monitored before transmission and an operator selects the center of interest so as to generate the picture and the signal to be transmitted. A controller 415 receives data including the selecting signal, reproduces the selecting signal and transmits residual data to the TV receiver.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for switching to a back-up power source. SOLUTION: One such system includes a threshold detector circuit (102), a first switching circuit (108-2) for enabling access to a first power source , the first switching circuit comprising at least a first transistor, and a second switching circuit (108-1) for enabling access to a second power source, the second switching circuit comprising at least a second transistor, wherein a threshold detector is configured to enable the second switching circuit to access the second power source responsive to a voltage provided by the first power source dropping below a predetermined threshold.
