The present invention relates to a unit for transporting a single fruit and vegetable product, preferably a date or a like product, configured to be moved along a processing line (2) of the product, which defines a path (P) for feeding units (1) along a feed direction (D); each transport unit (1), comprises a first roller (16), rotating about its own axis of rotation (16a), and a second roller 17, rotating about its own axis of rotation (17a); the first roller 16 and the second roller 17 are positioned one adjacent to the other in such a way as to define an oblong seat 21 for housing a single product; the axis of rotation (16a) of the first roller (16) and the axis of rotation (17a) of the second roller (17) are parallel to each other and positioned parallel along the feed direction (D) of the transport unit (1).

An apparatus (10) for detecting fruit and vegetable products; in particular damaged fruit and vegetable products, preferably in a plant or line (11) for conveying and suitably handling, in particular for sorting, the fruit and vegetable products, comprises product supporting means (12), in particular in the form of supporting means movable along a respective product conveying line (11); means (14) for capturing one or more images, in particular digital images, of the respective product positioned on the supporting means; and processing means adapted to process the images, in particular the digital images, of the respective product, and which are adapted to define a specific condition or feature of the respective product, in particular in such a way as to allow applying a subsequent command on the product, in particular a command for unloading the product, especially from the product supporting means (12). The processing means (16) are configured in such a way as to perform an automatic search for zones of interest in the digital image captured, the zones of interest corresponding to damage, in particular surface damage, to the respective product and, through a non-linear classifier called Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), to provide a numeric value representing the likelihood of containing a zone of interest.
