Abstract: An automated image capturing and processing system and method may allow a field user to operate a UAV via a mobile computing device to capture images of a structure area of interest (AOI). The mobile computing device receives user and/or third party data and creates UAV control data and a flight plan. The mobile computing device executes a flight plan by issuing commands to the UAV's flight and camera controller that allows for complete coverage of the structure AOI. After data acquisition, the mobile computing device then transmits the UAV output data to a server for further processing. At the server, the UAV output data can be used for a three- dimensional reconstruction process. The server then generates a vector model from the images that precisely represents the dimensions of the structure. The server can then generate a report for inspection and construction estimation.

Abstract: 16,409. Smyth, J. F. Sept. 15. Acetylene.-A tank A, charged with water which is maintained at a definite level by an automatic floating valve a, is fitted with a cover B from which depend a generating-chamber C and two chambers E and F. The carbide h older D, which is fitted with a tightly-fitting cover, is removed for re-charging by first lowering it out of the chamber C by rotating a pulley s. Uver tnis pulley passes a counterweighte t cord t attached to a socket o which runs on a rod p and carries the holder D upon an arm n. The rod and its connections are then turned partly round by a lever q, and finally the pulley s is rotated so as to raise the holder through an opening in the cover B. In a modification, the chamber C is fixed to the cover of a hole in the cover B, and is raised out of the tank for re-charging the holder D contained within it. The bottom of the holder is provided with a series of holes, one or more of which may be closed by an adjustable cap. Water enters by these holes when the air escape valve V is opened by coming up into contact with the top of the chamber C. The gas passes from the chamber C by the pipes d and e to the chamber E, and thence by the pipe h and valve H to a gas holder. When the gas holder has been raised to a certain height, the valve H is closed in consequence of the lever of the valve being connected by a chain with the holder. The gas then drives the water out of the chamber D, and any after-production passes by the pipe f, which is longer than the pipe e, into a chamber F, and thence to the holder by a pipe i, which is connected with the pipe h beyond the valve H. The pipe h is formed into a condensing-coil G, and it leads into a purifier before entering the holder. This purifier is packed with a hair scrubber to break up corpuscles in the gas, and with turf mould and chloride of lime for absorbing chemical impurities. The chambers E and F are fitted with screw plugs in order that they may be charged with sand or other filtering-material. The gasholder supply pipe is also fitted with a chamber charged with sand to prevent back-firing.

Abstract: 6397. Smyth, J. J. April 5. Manuring. - Relates to means for mounting the scrapers for the distributing cylinders or discs of machines for distributing manure broadcast or in drills. The discs H and the feed-hopper and its attachments are, as shown in Fig. 1, of ordinary construction. The scrapers K are all loosely hung from a bar L, pivoted at N. A scraper is provided for each disc H. The scrapers are coupled together in pairs, and the discs and scrapers are so arranged that, when one scraper moves forward to enter a recess in a disc, its companion is moved backwards and rides on the periphery of its disc. The scrapers are coupled together by a rocking lever M, bearing at each end on projections P on the scrapers and mounted loosely at its centre on a pin 0 projecting from the bar L. A loose pin Q, inserted in a slot in the pin O, keeps the lever M in position. A weight R or equivalent springs are attached to the bar L to keep the scrapers up to their work.
