Abstract: 1,045,540. Mechanical garages; endless conveyers. J. I. NEVO-HACOHEN, T. J. SHOOLMAN, A. S. AXELROD, and R. H. RINES. May 25, 1964. No. 21501/64. Headings B8A and B8E A garage comprises an endless elevator having platforms 8, Figs. 1, 2 and 3, attached by shafts 20, 20 1 , to a pair of endless roller chains 5, 51 which travel in channels 1, 1 1 , each platform having attached thereto by shafts 21, 211 a pair of followers 7, 7 1 travelling in channels 2, 2 1 , and pairs of roller chains 22, 23 and 22 1 . 23 1 disposed to travel in the channels 2, 2 1 to engage the followers 7, 7 1 and drive these across the ends 3, 4 of the channels 2, 2 1 for maintaining the platforms horizontal. Cars are driven on to and off the platforms 8 at an entrance II and an exit III, respectively. The chains 5, 5 1 are driven by a motor 16 and the chains 22. 23 and 22 1 . 23 1 are driven by motors 36, 37 or by the motor 16 or, by appropriate spacing of the platforms 8, by the chains 5, 5 1 . The followers 7, 7 1 have rollers 70 ... 73 and are engaged by projections 22 11 on the chains 22, 23 and 22 1 , 23 1 , the channels 2, 21 having at the corners thereof gaps 19 111 to allow passage of the shafts 20, 211. The ends 3 1 , 41 of the channels 1, 1 1 and the ends 3, 4 of the channels 2. 2 1 may be V-shaped. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the platforms travel in an inverted U-shaped circuit. In a second modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the platforms travel in a circuit comprising a plurality of horizontally disposed U-shaped paths, vertical movement of the platforms being effected by co-operation of main chains and auxiliary chains which divide the load of the platforms between them. The garage may comprise a plurality of elevator units.
