Abstract: A computing system makes a first, preliminary determination that a user of an ear-wearable device is experiencing a potential medical event based on first signals generated by first sensors. The computing system may make a second preliminary determination that the user is experiencing the potential medical event based on a user response captured by the ear-wearable device. The computing system may further determine that the user is experiencing the potential medical event based on both the first preliminary determination and the second preliminary determination. In response to determining that the user is experiencing the potential medical event, the computing system may cause the ear-wearable device to send a wireless communication request to a plurality of companion devices. Furthermore, in response to the wireless communication request being accepted by a companion device, the computing system may send user data via a communication link.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to ear-wearable systems and devices for detecting dehydration and related methods. In an embodiment, an ear-wearable dehydration monitoring system is included having a control circuit, a microphone, a power supply, and a sensor package, wherein the sensor package is in electrical communication with the control circuit. The ear-wearable dehydration monitoring system is configured to process signals of one or more sensors of the sensor package to detect clinical symptoms of dehydration. Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to ear-worn devices and related systems and methods that can be used detect oropharyngeal events and related occurrences such as food and drink intake. In an embodiment, an ear-worn device system is included having a first ear-worn device that has a control circuit, a motion sensor, at least one microphone, an electroacoustic transducer, and a power supply circuit. The system can also include a second ear-worn device. The system can be configured to monitor signals from at least one of the motion sensor and the at least one microphone and evaluate the signals to identify oropharyngeal events and/or related occurrences. A controller is situated in the housing and coupled to the power source and the sensor. The controller is configured to assess a fit of the device using the sensor signal.

Abstract: A system includes an image sensor, a hearing device, and a controller. Abstract: A system comprises a first ear-worn electronic device configured to be worn by a wearer, and a second electronic device comprising a second ear-worn electronic device or other electronic device. A wireless transceiver operably coupled to an antenna is disposed in each of the electronic devices. One or both of the first ear-worn electronic device and the second electronic device are configured to transmit signals at a plurality of different frequencies in accordance with a frequency hopping sequence, collect 2-D RSSI data comprising an RSSI value as a function of frequency and of time in response to transmission of the signals, detect a particular input gesture of a plurality of input gestures of the wearer using the 2-D RSSI data, and implement a predetermined function of at least one of the first ear-worn electronic device and the second electronic device in response to detecting the particular input gesture.

Abstract: An ear-worn electronic system comprises an inner device and an outer device configured for deployment at one ear of a wearer. The inner device comprises a first housing configured for placement at least partially within an ear canal of the wearer, a first rechargeable battery and first charging circuitry disposed in the first housing, and first electronic circuitry disposed in the first housing and coupled to the first rechargeable battery. The outer device comprises a second housing separate from the first housing and configured for placement at the wearer's ear proximal of the first housing in an outer ear direction, and a second rechargeable battery and second charging circuitry disposed in the second housing. Abstract: Examples of hearing assistance devices are described. The hearing assistance devices include an enclosing structure configured to house a receiver that generates sound waves into an ear canal of a user when the hearing assistance device is worn, and a tube coupled to the receiver to direct the sound waves into the ear canal of the user. The tube may include magnetized particles that form a magnetic field through the tube. The tube may include a portion of hydrophilic coating and a portion of hydrophobic coating. The hearing assistance device may include a coiled wire configured to carry an alternating current to generate an electro-magnetic field through the tube.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to ear-worn devices and, more specifically, ear-worn devices that can measure reaction and/or reflex speeds. An ear-worn device herein can include a control circuit, a clock circuit in electrical communication with the control circuit, a motion sensor in electrical communication with the control circuit, an electroacoustic transducer for generating sound in electrical communication with the control circuit, and a power supply circuit in electrical communication with the control circuit. The ear-worn device can be configured to initiate generation of a stimulus sufficient to generate a response from the ear-worn device wearer. The ear-worn device can be configured to monitor for a qualified response to the stimulus and measure an amount of time between the stimulus and the qualified response. Other embodiments are also included herein.
