Abstract:
Guanidine salts of monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty acids with 6 to 44 C atoms are used to achieve a temporary anticorrosive protection of metallic surfaces. The guanidine salts are preferably dissolved in a oil-in-water emulsion. Also disclosed are oil-in-water emulsions whose oil phase may consist of various oil-like solvents that contain unsaturated fatty acid guanidine salts.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the use, for cleaning hard surfaces, of a combination of non-ionic surface-active agents, the combination containing: (a) at least one alk(en)yl ethoxylate of general formula (I): R1-O-(CH¿2?CH2O)n-H, in which R?1¿ is a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl group with 6-18 C-atoms or a cyclic alkyl group with 5-6 C-atoms, and n is a number in the range from 2 to 12, and (b) at least one alk(en)yl ethoxylate propoxylate of general formula (II): R2-O-(CH¿2?CH2O)p-A-H, in which R?2¿ is a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl group with 6-18 C-atoms or a cyclic alkyl group with 5-6 C-atoms, p is a number in the range 2 to 10 and A is a group of the type -(CH¿2?-CH(CH3)-O)q- or -(CH(CH3)-CH2-O)r-, the sum q + r being a number in the range from 2 to 8, the ratio by weight of components a and b being in the range from 10:1 to 1:10.
Abstract:
The invention concerns agents intended for the cleaning and passivation of metal surfaces, the agents being made up of two base formulations A and B which are used together in the agent. Formulation A consists of an oil-in-water emulsion containing an oil, at least one emulsifier and water, and formulation B consists of an aqueous solution of water-soluble salts of carboxylic acids with a corrosion-inhibiting action. The characteristics in use of the overall system, in particular the pH, the foaming behaviour and the ability to protect against corrosion, can be controlled by varying the corrosion-protection additive. It is also possible to produce oil-in-water emulsions with a particularly long shelf life.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the use of at least substantially water-insoluble dialkyl ethers of natural or synthetic mono- and/or polyhydric alcohols, the ethers being liquid at working temperatures, as the oil phase in agents for treating metal surfaces and in cooling lubricants. The invention also concerns agents containing at least such dialkyl ethers, corrosion inhibitors and emulsifiers. These dialkyl ethers are intended for use as mineral-oil substitutes.

Abstract:
Described are terminal-group-closed anti-foaming agents obtained by esterifying with carboxylic acids, in the presence of acid catalysts, fatty-alcohol polyglycol ethers of formula (I) in which R1 is a straight-chain or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group with 1 to 22 carbon atoms and 0, 1, 2 or 3 double bonds, R2 is hydrogen or a methyl group and n is a number from 1 to 40. The products are suitable for use as anti-foaming agents in a large number of applications.
