    Abstract: 117,508. Steele Rail Anchor Co., and Steele, J. R. July 26, 1917. Chair plates; sleepers, securing rails to. - Railway rails are secured to the sleepers by fastening devices which comprise a plain shank 5, 6 driven diagonally beneath the rails through inclined holes in the chair plate 3, and integral heads 7, 8 bent inwardly to engage over the rail base at a point remote from the shanks. The fasteners are preferably made of a soft rivet steel, and the heads 7, 8 arched so that the ends are substantially parallel with the shanks. The chairplates are made narrow or strap-like in proportions.
