Abstract: 25,385. Stewart, G. D. Dec. 1. Platen presses.-Guard for preventing accidents. A strip or plate of thin sheet metal A is hinged at H to the upper end of the platen P. The guard is connected by the lever and link L, L to the oscillating piece R. In the forward motion of the platen, from the position shown in Fig. 2 to that shown in Fig. 3, the guard A is thrown forward so as to cover the space between the platen and type bed.
