    Abstract: PURPOSE: To correct nonlinearity easily in measuring the liquid level of fuel or the like by employing a linear motion float and a plate-like resistor. CONSTITUTION: Springs 84, 85 urge a contact member from the front wall 63 side of a float toward a resistor plate unit 36 and bring a contact 78 surely into contact with a grounding resistor. A float 58 is turnable about a post and since the springs 84, 85 are arranged to acts on the opposite sides of post in the axial direction, a constant force acts on the contacts 78, 79, regardless of irregularities of resistor unit 36, a contact unit 53 and a float unit 34. According to the structure, contact abrasion of the contacts 78, 79 is made uniform and a good electrical contacting state can be ensured at all times.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve reliability by electrically connecting an external connection terminal for a pressure monitoring electric circuit to a thick film variable resistor and providing a supporting means which mechanically supports the thick film variable resistor at a specified position. CONSTITUTION: At an end part of an electric follower, an electric contact paint to be contacted to a thick film ceramics variable resistor 76 is provided. The resistor 78 comprises a conduction part, which complies an input contact point 99 and resistor parts 100-119 which are independent of each other. The resistor 76, further, is attached to a holding member 68 of non-conductive property. The resistor 76 and the member 68 are, with a conductive clip 86, mechanically and electrically connected each other. The resistor 76 is small and light, and its contact surface is relatively smooth, so a friction is hard to occur when the electric contact paint moves on the resistors 100-119. Thus, mechanical degradation is hard to occur with a conductive ink or the electric contact point, so reliability is improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a universal fuel gauge applicable to tanks of different depth by providing a float arm mechanism for making the dimensions selectable at the time of fixing the fuel gauge to an adjusting resistor, and a supporting rod for fixing an adjusting resistor fixing metal movably. CONSTITUTION: The fuel gauge 10 comprises a top plate 12, a supporting rod 13, a regulating resistor 15 being driven through a rotatable float arm plate 16, and a float arm unit 17. The regulating resistor 15 is fixed with a fixing metal having upper and lower arms sliding up and down with respect to the supporting rod 13. The fixing metal is provided with stoppers 66, 67 at a predetermined interval in order to regulate the upper and lower limits of the unit 17. A fuel gauge of different size can be obtained by altering the dimensions indicative of the length of supporting rod 13 and the depth of center of a wiper arm in the resistor 15 as well as the length of lead wire and the length of a float arm rod 81 and the fuel gauge can be applied to tanks of different depth.
