Abstract: 16,146. Stewart, W. W. Aug. 8. Pens, reservoir. Relates to a reservoir pen which can be filled without removing any portion of the pen. Fig. 1 shows a side view, partly in section, of one form of pen. Fig. 2 shows a transverse section on the line 2 of Fig. 1. The nozzle B is made with a semicircular channel c at the bottom of the central passage. The nib D rests immediately over the channel c, and is surmounted by the movable feeder bar E, which terminates in a spiral extension e. The plug F is angular in cross-section; it has a central passage for the extension e, and is provided with slots h. It is stated that, on inverting an ink filler over the mouth of the pen, the ink will flow along the feeder bar E, while air bubbles escape through the circular opening contained between the nib D and the channel c. Fig. 6 shows a sectional side view of a modification. The nib E is seated above the open-ended feeder bar D', which has a central bore of circular section and external grooves preferably non-circular in section. The feeder bar D' and nib E are enclosed by the collar d', which terminates in the extension e'.

Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section. The feed-pipe C is of non- circular or angular section and has an adjustable spherical plug e supported on a wire f held at its outer end. The outer end b of the feed-pipe C is formed as shown in Fig. 3, for supplying ink to the nib. Or the nib itself may be formed with an elongated shank which enters the feed-pipe. In a modification, the feed-pipe is of circular section and has an angular plug held at its outer end.
