Abstract:
A battery electrode assembly comprises a porous electrode plate having a plurality of large and small pores, a pore insert within a plurality of pores, the pore insert maintaining an electrolyte in the pores substantially throughout a discharge/charge cycle. The pore insert may be a gelled electrolyte. The pore insert may be a particulate material. The electrodes may be used in a battery having cells with opposing positive and negative tabs connected in series by an intercell connector.
Abstract:
A razor blade including a substrate with a coating joined to the substrate defining a coated blade. The coated blade including a cutting edge being defined by a blade tip having a tip radius of from 500 to 1500 angstroms. The coated blade having a thickness of between 0.3 and 0.5 micrometers measured at a distance of 0.25 micrometers from the blade tip, a thickness of between 0.4 and 0.65 micrometers measured at a distance of 0.5 micrometers from the blade tip, a thickness of between 0.61 and 0.71 micrometers measured at a distance of 1 micrometer from the blade tip, a thickness of between 0.96 and 1.16 micrometers measured at a distance of 2 micrometers from the blade tip, and a thickness of between 1.56 and 1.91 micrometers measured at a distance of 4 micrometers from the blade tip.
Abstract:
A hydrogen generator includes a magnetically activated actuator that automatically adds a solid hydrogen source into a liquid in response to a variation in hydrogen pressure within the hydrogen generator. The solid hydrogen reacts with the liquid to generate hydrogen.
Abstract:
Secondary batteries having fast charge times are provided. In some implementations, the cathode includes LiFePO4 as an active material. In some implementations, the batteries include carbon-based anodes.
Abstract:
A hydrogen generator includes a solid hydrogen source (e.g. sodium borohydrate disposed within a housing and an inlet configures to guide a fluid (e.g. water) to contact the solid hydrogen source.
Abstract:
The present invention provides novel and improved protein purification processes which incorporate certain types of carbonaceous materials and result in effective and selective removal of certain undesirable impurities without adversely effecting the yield of the desired protein product.
Abstract:
A novel razor cartridge includes at least one non-cutting element disposed anywhere within a blade array between a guard and a cap and/or in a blade position of a frame providing skin/hair management. This non-cutting element allows the fine-tuning of parameters such as blade-skin contact, hair orientation, blade spans and rinse-through gaps in manners that improve shaving comfort, closeness, efficiency, and/or rinse-ability. The non-cutting element may include projections, fin-like elements, comb-like features having teeth, exfoliation or lubricating capabilities. By having a fixed non-cutting element disposed midway in a blade array, a multi-stage cartridge is provided with a middle control point with potentially different functionality before and after the non-cutting element. The non-cutting element is not attached to another blade in the blade array though it may be manufactured as a modified blade support, attached to a blade support, or as part of the frame or the clips.
Abstract:
A system monitors and controls the injection of additives into formation fluids recovered through a well may include a plurality of nozzles that receive the injection fluid from an umbilical disposed in a well. Each nozzle may have an associated flow control element that is configured to affect a flow of the injection fluid ejected through the associated nozzle. The umbilical may include one or more filters positioned in a first of two parallel conduits formed along the umbilical. An occlusion member restricts in a second of the two conduits. The occlusion member permits flow in the second conduit after a predetermined pressure differential exists in the second conduit. The system may include a plurality of pressure sensors disposed along the umbilical, and an injector unit that dispenses fluid into the umbilical. A controller operatively coupled to the injector unit operates the injector in response to measurements from the pressure sensors.
Abstract:
A mechanism is disclosed for loading/unloading one or more rechargeable batteries. The mechanism includes one or more charging compartments configured to receive one or more rechargeable batteries and a first actuator configured to cause the one or more rechargeable batteries to be displaced from a first position to a second position.
Abstract:
A bone graft shaper for shaping bone graft. The bone graft shaper includes a first holder having at least one shaped slot and a second holder coupled to the first holder, such that the first and second holder are sized and shaped to grasp the bone graft. A cutting guide is also included and has at least one slot. The cutting guide is coupled to one of the first holder and the second holder. The bone graft shaper also includes a bone saw sized and shaped to fit within at least one of the shaped slot and the cutting guide slot.
