Abstract: The title compds. Thus, nicotine-4'-chloroanilide was treated with SOCl2 to give the imino chloride, which was treated with CuCN to give 60% 4'-chlorophenylimino-C-(cyano)methyl-3-pyridine. At 1kg of the latter compd./ha there was >80% inhibition of plasmopera viticola on vine plants. Other compds. also had plant growth retardant and leaf abscission activity.
