Abstract: Gas oil or other petroleum fractions are treated at temperatures above 500 DEG C., for example 530 DEG C., under a pressure of about 50 atmospheres with coke oven gas or other gases containing hydrogen for such a length of time, for example, half an hour, that a large yield of gas oil suitable for enriching blue water gas is obtained, and at the same time, the liquid products obtained consist mainly of aromatic hydrocarbons. The process may be carried out in a closed vessel or in a pipe still and in the presence of a hydrogenating catalyst.

Abstract: 259,210. Tide Water Oil Co., (Assignees of Bertschinger, C. F.). Oct. 1, 1925, [Convention date]. Dipping rods.-In order to prevent unauthorized filling of underground petrol &c. tanks while still allowing the use of gauging rods, sealing devices are employed in connection with the fittings at the upper ends of the separate or combined filling and gauging pipes. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the dip rod 6 fits closely an aperture in a member or bushing 10 screwed into a fitting 4 on the pipe 3, set-screws 17, 7 being sealed as shown, and the dip rod having sealed pins 13, 15 at its ends. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a form in which the fitting and bushing 10 have flanges 25, 26, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), provided with a seal device 20. This suuject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
