    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformed plant free from ethylene-synthesis capability while keeping the metabolism and other aspects. SOLUTION: The invention provides purified proteins, DNA sequences encoding the expression of the protein and recombinant DNA molecules, including a host transformed for producing a transformed coffee plant for suppressing the expression of an enzyme necessary for the synthesis of ethylene. The DNA sequence and the recombinant DNA molecule are characterized by the encoding of the expression of ACC synthase or ACC oxidase which is an enzyme essential in the biosynthesis path of ethylene in coffee plants. The coffee plant is transformed with a vector containing ACC synthase DNA sequence and/or ACC oxidase DNA sequence encoding the expression of mRNA having antisense activity to the mRNA of ACC synthase and/or ACC oxidase.
