    Abstract: An environmental sensing device includes an interferometric modulator which permanently actuates, in a visually-detectable manner, in response to being exposed to a predetermined environmental threshold or condition.     Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a lighting device that can emit light and sense light aredisclosed. In one embodiment, a lighting device (101) includes a light guide (105) having a planar first surface, the light guide configured such that at least some ambient light enters the light guide through the first surface and propagates therein, and at least one light detector (509) disposed along an edge of the light guide, the at least one detector (509) optically coupled to the light guide (105) to receive light propagating therein.
