Abstract:
A security system which is nonintrusive of personal privacy of a person in a space comprises at least a first localization sensor subsystem, if any, in the possession of the person; a video surveillance subsystem arranged and configured to collect visual data related to the person in the space; and a computer subsystem coupled to the localization sensor subsystem and video surveillance subsystem to associate a predetermined privacy level with the localization sensor subsystem, and to provide an access control privilege with the localization sensor subsystem, the computer subsystem determining how to present, store and/or retrieve the visual data while meeting predetermined the privacy level associated with the person.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for coordinating advertising among at least two devices currently being used by the same user. A server receives information about what advertising is sent to a first user device. Based on that information, the server creates a "context directive" that specifies how to appropriately direct advertising to a second user device. The context directive is sent to a device that manages an advertising campaign for the second device. The context directive can be based on advertising policy rules set by campaign managers for the first and second user devices. The policy rules may lobe based on demographic information associated with the user of the second device. In some embodiments, a server collects information on advertisements sent to the various user devices, correlates that information, and produces a report. Advertising managers use this report to gauge the effectiveness of their campaigns across devices.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is disclosed whereby the context of user activity can be used to tailor the ambient information system. The method and apparatus use both short-term context such as recent activity and long-term context such as historical patterns to highlight specific content on channels or widgets that are likely to be of most immediate interest to the user. This contextual information provided by the framework can also be used to make intelligent decisions about how to tailor the user experience after a user has interacted with the item in question. Additionally, context information accumulated on one device such as a mobile phone can be broadcasted to other devices to influence the ambient information display application on a second device such as a desktop based on enabling remote access to the local context repository.
Abstract:
Disclosed is commercial-information sharing system in which a vendor provides a shopping device (106) to a customer (102). When the shopping device (106) presents commercial information to the customer (102) that the customer (102) finds interesting, the customer (102) may choose to share the commercial information. The information is sent (200) from the vendor's shopping device (106) to a personal communications device (104) of the customer (102). The customer (102) then uses his personal communications device (104) to share (208) the information. The vendor may send (202) tracking information along with the commercial information. If someone (114) is interested in the commercial information shared by the original customer (102) and goes to the vendor to, for example, redeem (306) a coupon, the tracking information provides the vendor with important marketing data. The original customer (102) may also share content (204) that he generates and then associates with the commercial information.
Abstract:
A security system which is nonintrusive of personal privacy of a person in a space comprises: at least a first localization sensor subsystem (22a), if any, in the possession of the person; a video surveillance subsystem arranged and configured to collect visual data related to the person in the space (22b); and a computer subsystem (26-32) coupled to the localization sensor subsystem and video surveillance subsystem to associate a predetermined privacy level with the localization sensor subsystem, and to provide an access control privilege with the localization sensor subsystem, the computer subsystem determining how to present, store and/or retrieve the visual data while meeting predetermined the privacy level associated with the person.
