Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molecular weight marker for accurately determining the molecular weight of glatiramer acetate and other copolymers. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for determining whether a mixture of polypeptides, each of which includes alanine, glutamic acid, tyrosine and lysine, has an average molecular weight of 2,000-40,000 daltons. In the mixture, the molar fraction of alanine is 0.38-0.5, of glutamic acid is 0.13 to 0.15, of tyrosine is 0.08 to 0.10, and of lysine is 0.3 to 0.4. In order to determine the average molecular weight of the mixture, provision of the mixture to a calibrated chromatography device is included, wherein the chromatography device is calibrated by subjecting a polypeptide to chromatography with the chromatography device to establish a linear relationship between retention time in a column and the logarithm of the molecular weight. The invention relates to the use of inhibitors of IL-18 in the preparation of a medicament for treatment and/or prevention of liver injury. The invention further relates to the use of IL-18 inhibitors in the preparation of a medicament for treatment and/or prevention of arthritis, in particular rheumatoid arthritis. In addition to this, the invention relates to the use of inhibitors of IL-18 in the preparation of a medicament for treatment and/or prevention of inflammatory bowel diseases, in particular of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
