Abstract: Provided is an oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition showing high moisturizing capability regardless of light and rapid absorption feeling by introducing a liquid crystal structure into an aqueous phase thereof. The oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition having a lamella liquid crystal structure is characterized in that sorbitan stearate represented by the formula(1) and sorbityl laurate represented by the formula(2) are contained in an aqueous phase of the emulsion. In the formulae, R1 is a C16-18 alkyl and R2 is a C12 alkyl. Regarding the total weight of the composition, 0.1-5.0 wt.% of the sorbitan stearate and 0.1-5.0 wt.% of the sorbityl laurate are contained.

Abstract: Cosmetic compositions containing the extract of white birch are provided to normalize reduction of skin gene expression caused by ultraviolet rays without side effects, thereby maintaining skin homeostasis.
