Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a low power security system are provided to comprise a security system with small storage medium which records images only required for security. CONSTITUTION: A control device and a method of the low power security system are as follows. The predetermined index value is selected by matching the running time of active mode and sleep mode of security system. The active mode or the sleep mode is performed based on the index value. When the security system is performed in a sleep mode, it is determined whether an operation event is generated to make the security system into active mode or not. As a result of the determination, if an operation event is occurred, the security system is switched to the active mode during the predetermined time.
