Abstract: A breakwater for generating electricity using whirlpool in a running water chamber is provided to promote discharge of contaminants in an inner sea to an outer sea in order to prevent contamination of a port. A breakwater for generating electricity using whirlpool in a running water chamber includes a rubble mound(10), a caisson(20), a running water chamber(30), and a water wheel(40). The rubble mound is securely supported on an underwater surface. The caisson is supported on the rubble mound such that a part of the caisson is exposed to the seawater surface. The running water chamber is installed at a front surface of the caisson. The water wheel is installed in the running water chamber to generate electricity using whirlpool. In the lower part of the running water chamber, a front wall(32) is spaced a predetermined height apart from a horizontal plate(33) to form a seawater inlet(31).
