    Abstract: PURPOSE: A molecular weight regulation method for a biodegradable polymer is provided to use the sonication for decomposing the biodegradable polymer without generating cytotoxic material. CONSTITUTION: A molecular weight regulation method for a biodegradable polymer comprises the following steps: low temperature storing the biodegradable polymer at 0-10 deg C for 0-48 hours after dissolving in a solvent; and reducing the molecular weight of the biodegradable polymer by adjusting the application time and the applied voltage intensity of ultrasonic waves at 0-4 deg C. The biodegradable polymer is a natural polymer selected from hyaluronic acid, chitoic acid, chitin, alginic acid, heparin, starch, xanthan, pullulan, or polyamino acid.
