    Abstract: A bio-filter device is provided to remove odorous gas and volatile organic compounds at a low operating cost by using bio-filters containing a crab shell as a carrier. A bio-filter device(100) having a crab shell carrier for the removal of odorous gas and volatile organic compounds comprises: a reactor(1) having an inlet(2) and an outlet(4) formed thereon; and bio-filters(10) which contain a crab shell as a carrier and are disposed within the reactor. The bio-filters are formed in a multilayer structure. The bio-filter device further comprises nutrient supply parts(15) installed on a side face of the reactor to supply nutrient to the respective bio-filters. The nutrient comprises 2 g/L of (NH4)2SO4, 0.3 g/L of MgSO4.7H2O, 0.1 g/L of K2HPO4, and a 100 mul of a trace element. The trace element comprises 16.2 g/L of FeCl3.6H2O, 10.2 g/L of CaCl2.2H2O, 0.22 g/L of CoCl2.6H2O, 0.15 g/L of CuSO4.5H2O, 0.13 g/L of CrCl3.6H2O, 0.09 g/L of NiCl2.6H2O, and 40.0 g/L of citric acid. The nutrient is a supernatant of an aqueous solution of leaf mold or fecal soil of earth worm.
