    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for reducing a channel change delay using a hybrid multimedia service and a device thereof are provided to reduce the channel change delay through a unicast preview channel in an open IP multicast broadcasting service. CONSTITUTION: When a user1 requests a channel change at the time(tc), a preview server provides multimedia having lower quality than the image quality of a main server to the user1 during buffering for providing a service of another channel. The user1 receives the service during the buffering. Therefore, the minimum quality of the multimedia is guaranteed for a delay channel change time.
