Abstract: An apparatus for preventing collision of vehicles is provided to prevent secondary accidents by controlling the generation of the magnetic force based on relative speed between collided vehicles. A transmitter(110) transmits periodically ID(Identification) information and first vehicle recognition information including a transmitting time of the ID information. A receiver(120) receives periodically ID information and second vehicle recognition information including the transmitting time of the ID information. A distance producing unit(130) produces distance with adjacent vehicles based on the transmitting time and a receiving time of the second vehicle recognition information. A speed detecting unit(140) detects a traveling speed of vehicles having a collision preventing device. A controller(150) outputs a magnetic force generation signal when a distance with the closest vehicle is less than a braking distance corresponding to the traveling speed of vehicles and a magnetic force removal signal when relative speed with the closest vehicle is zero. A magnetic force generator(160) generates magnetic force having a predetermined polarity until the magnetic force removal signal is inputted after the magnetic force generation signal.
