    Abstract: A tag reading system and a method using self re-encrypting protocol are provided to prevent the information exposure and position tracking by transmitting transformed messages to all inquiries of reader. A tag reading system and method using self re-encrypting protocol includes a plurality of member tags(100), a reader(111~113), a gateway(120), and a plurality of group data bases(131~139). The plurality of member tags is included in one group among groups, generates a first cryptogram re-encrypted from the identical information encrypted regarding the received inquiry, and encrypting the first cryptogram with a gateway symmetry key for the group. The reader transmits an inquiry to the member tag, receives the second cryptogram from the member tag, and outputs the received second cryptogram. The gateway generates group messages by using the second cryptogram and each gateway symmetry key corresponding to the plurality of groups. The plurality of group data bases is included in one among the plurality of groups, and obtains the identical information by encrypting the group messages into the private key of the group which includes the member tag.
