Abstract: An apparatus and a method for measuring a concentration of sludge in a waste water treatment tank are provided to measure exact sludge concentrations according to water level while a concentration sensing unit goes up and down in the tank, thereby acquiring a total sludge concentration state in the tank exactly. An apparatus for measuring a concentration of sludge in a waste water treatment tank comprises a concentration sensing unit(10) and a lifting unit which hoists and lowers the concentration sensing unit(10). The concentration sensing unit(10) includes: a container(101) which has a can shape with the opened bottom and is immersed in waste water inside the waste water treatment tank with the inside space filled with gas; and a sensor(102) which is installed in the inside space of the container(101), is out of contact with waste water in the waste water treatment tank, and measures a sludge concentration. The concentration sensing unit(10) is up and down movably installed in the waste water treatment tank and measures sludge concentrations according to water level while going up and down in the waste water treatment tank.
