Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for designing a profile of a roller is provided to determine an exact profile amount of a roller and to prevent the damage of the roller by reducing a contact pressure in the edge of the roller. CONSTITUTION: A method for designing a profile of a roller includes the steps of obtaining contact pressure distribution of the roller by elastic fluid lubrication analysis(S1), changing the contact pressure distribution of the roller to the corrected pressure distribution having no concentration of the contact pressure in the edge(S2), calculating elastic deformation amount of the roller based on the corrected pressure distribution(S3), and applying a profile amount at 20-230 % of the elastic deformation amount(S4).
