Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing an agent for measuring eIF3m expression level is provided to diagnose cancer with high diagnosis sensitivity and specificity. CONSTITUTION: A composition for detecting cancer marker contains an agent for measuring eIF3m mRNA or protein expression level. The agent for measuring mRNA expression level is a primer pair, probe, or antisense nucleotide. The agent for measuring protein expression level is an antibody. A kit for diagnosing cancer contains the composition. A composition for preventing and treating cancer contains an oligonucleotide which suppresses eIF3m polynucleotide expression.

Abstract: Disclosed are a cancer marker-detecting composition comprising an agent for measuring an mRNA or protein expression level of eIF3m, a cancer diagnosis kit comprising the same, a method for detecting an eIF3m polynucleotide or protein by treating a biological specimen with the agent to detect a substance binding specifically to the agent and quantitatively comparing the substance between a subject and a normal control, and a method for the treatment and prevention of cancer comprising an agent for down-regulating the expression of an eIF3m polynucleotide or protein.
