Abstract: PURPOSE: A site diversity method in an LED-ID system is provided to smoothly perform communication between an LED-ID tag and an LED-ID tag without a fading phenomenon and the use of additional bandwidths and to reduce power consumption. CONSTITUTION: An LED-ID reader measures an SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) of MRC(Maximum Ratio Combining) paths. If the highest SNR is greater than or the same as a threshold value, the LED-ID reader activates an MRC path having the highest SNR to receive a signal. Otherwise, the LED-ID reader sequentially adds up SNRs lower than the highest SNR and stops the addition when the added value is greater than the threshold value. The LED-ID reader activates only MRC paths having the SNRs included in the addition to perform site diversity in an MRC mode.
