Abstract: PURPOSE: A tactical data link system based on a point to multi-point network and a tactical data transmission method thereof are provided to form an improved communications system in comparison with a method using a physical layer address, thereby preventing the decrease of transfer efficiency due to a 15-bit overhead. CONSTITUTION: Tactical data link(Link-16) units(501,502,503) each have an allocated track number(TN). The tactical data link unit transmits a data packet using an IP server/client method. A gateway(504) supports connection between networks using a point-to-multipoint method through each tactical data link unit having the allocated track number and a Link-16 network. A router is connected to the gateway. The router routes the data packet from a source IP address to a destination IP address. An IP server(505) receives the data packet using a point-to-point method.
