    Abstract: PURPOSE: A FMCW radar and an attenuating method for a near distance clutter signal of the FMCW radar are provided to expand a dynamic area of a receiver and to improve a signal to noise ratio. CONSTITUTION: A FMCW radar and an attenuating method for a near distance clutter signal of the FMCW radar comprise the following: A RF transmitter(20) is delivered a signal from a signal generator of a frequency generator(30) and transmits the same to a transmitting antenna. The transmitting antenna transmits an RF detection signal to the outside. An RF receiver(10) RF-converts the reflected signal returning from a target and produces the same to a mixer(35). The mixer mixes the local signal separated from the frequency generator and the reflected signal from the RF receiver and produces an intermediate frequency. An intermediate frequency signal amplifier lowers or amplifies the frequency of the Doppler reflected signal and provides the same to a signal processor(70). The signal processor converts the analog signal passed through the intermediate frequency signal expander to the digital signal and extracts the characteristics of the detected target.
