Abstract: PURPOSE: A non-contact direction recognizing method by hand motion is provided to calculate the central point of a hand and the end point of a finger from a detected hand area, thereby setting a direction by calculating a straight line from the central point and the end. CONSTITUTION: A device forms a skin color area by an input image(S1). The device detects a hand area by the skin color area(S2). The device extracts a point of gravity and the end point of a finger from the hand area(S3). The device calculates a finger direction from the point of gravity and the end point of the finger(S4). The device recognizes the nearest direction center axis as a finger direction by comparing a central direction axis with the finger direction.
