    Abstract: PURPOSE: A waste heat recovery system of a ship and a method thereof are provided to enable an alternate sub boiler to operate a system in case of the malfunction of or damage to one sub boiler. CONSTITUTION: A waste heat recovery system of a ship and a method thereof comprises an economizer(11), a first, and a second sub boiler(20a,20b). The economizer receives waste heat among waste gas generated from a main engine(2). The first and the second sub boiler are provided with the water from a water supply tank(14). The first and the second sub boiler are connected to the cycle line of the water passing through the economizer. The first and the second sub boiler are mutually interconnected to be replaced.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method of propelling a ship is provided to increase entire propulsion efficiency by reheating steam which remains after a high-pressure steam turbine is driven, delivering the reheated steam to a middle-pressure steam turbine to drive it, and thereafter driving a low-pressure steam turbine. An apparatus of propelling a ship is intended to drive steam turbines by generating steam in a main boiler and sequentially feeding the steam through a steam supply line to a high-pressure steam turbine(11) and a low-pressure steam turbine(13). The apparatus includes a middle-pressure steam turbine(15) between the high-pressure steam turbine and the low-pressure steam turbine. Steam supplied to the middle-pressure steam turbine is the steam which is obtained by reheating steam remaining after the high-pressure steam turbine is driven. Rotating shafts of the high-pressure steam turbine and the low-pressure steam turbine are connected to a propelling reduction gear(21). The rotating shaft of the middle-pressure steam turbine is coaxial with the rotating shaft of the high-pressure steam turbine and is coupled to the propelling reduction gear. A propeller(23) is coupled to the rear end of the propelling reduction gear. A power take off is coupled to the propelling reduction gear, and includes a generator having a reduction gear, a clutch, and a backup steam turbine.
