    Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition for preventing bacterial leaf blight in Oryza sativa is provided to suppress bacterial leaf blight and to minimize damage of rice growing regions. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing bacterial leaf blight in Oryza sativa contains staurosporine of chemical formula I. Staurosporine is derived from Streptomyces rubrolavendulae MJM4426. The bacterial leaf blight is a plant disease caused by Xanthomonas genus. A method for preparing staurosporine comprises the steps of: culturing Streptomyces rubrolavendulae MJM4426; extracting the culture with an organic solvent; performing chromatography of the extract to obtain an active fraction; and purifying the active fraction.
