The present invention relates to an antimicrobial or antifungal composition comprising peptides isolated from Lumbricus terrestris as an active ingredient and, more specifically, to peptides having an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1, polynucleotide having a base sequence which encodes the peptides, and a use thereof. The peptide having an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1 according to the present invention, has an antimicrobial or antifungal activity and is nontoxic for red blood cells of a human, thereby being useful as an antimicrobial pharmaceutical composition, an antifungal pharmaceutical composition, and a preserving agent composition.

The present invention relates to a novel Scolopendrasin III peptide isolated from Scolopendra subspinipes and a composition thereof. The present invention provides a novel gene (sequence number 1) of an antibacterial and antifungal peptide isolated from Scolopendra subspinipes, or amino acid (sequence number 2) deducted from the gene, and a peptide (sequence number 3) synthesized from the amino acid. The novel Scolopendrasin III peptide isolated from Scolopendra subspinipes and a composition thereof are provided by the present invention. Accordingly, provided are antibiotics, food preservatives, cosmetic preservatives, medicines, etc. which are free from cytotoxicity and are safe for the human body while showing excellent antibacterial activity and antifungal activity.
