    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for lighting multi-lamps for a back light of a liquid crystal display is provided to reduce power consumption and the size of the back light by lighting the multi-lamps with one lighting apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of switching elements(10,20,30,40) is operated by gate signals(S1-S4) for converting direct current voltage into pulse wave alternating current voltage. A serial resonance circuit made up of a parallel capacitor(50) and a transformer(60) converts the pulse wave alternating current voltage into sine wave alternating current voltage according to a resonance operation. Serial capacitors(80,81) are driven by the sine wave alternating current voltage from the serial resonance element for lighting a plurality of lamps(90,91) respectively. A control unit(110) generates the gate signals controlling the alternating current voltage converting operation of the alternating current converter.
