Abstract: PURPOSE: A device and method for recognizing an operation of a virtual game system is provided to recognize a basic operation corresponded to the lowest distance value as an operation of a user by photographing an operation of a user in progressing a game, extracting a plurality of feature points, creating important feature vectors and additional feature vectors, detecting a distance value between the important feature vectors, and comparing detected distance values. CONSTITUTION: A video acquiring unit(110) photographs a plurality of basic operations being applied to a game or an operation of a user in a game, converts the photographed video into a digital video using a frame grabber, and stores the digital video in a frame buffer. A feature extracting unit(120) extracts a body feature point of a user from the stored digital video. A model operation creation unit(130) analyzes a temporal variation of important feature vectors corresponded to each of basic operation being applied in a game created in the feature extracting unit(120) and additional feature vectors. The model operation creation unit(130) projects the feature vectors in an inherent space of a low dimension and stores a plurality of basic operations. An input modifying unit(140) modifies the additional feature vectors into a feature vector having an average value of the additional feature vectors. An operation analysis unit(150) detects a distance value between the project important feature vector and an important feature vector being applied to the stored game, compares detected distance values, and recognizes a basic operation corresponded to the lowest distance value as an operation of a user.
