Abstract: An optical sensor is provided to improve the sensitivity of a sensor by increasing photoreceptive area when the light is reflected in a target and detect the rotating number of a rotary disc of a mechanical watt-hour meter without opening verification seal. An optical sensor is composed of one emitting device(31) and a plurality of light receiving devices(32,33,34,35,36,37) surrounding the emitting device. The light receiving device is arranged in each vertex of a regular polygon shape and surrounds the emitting device. The regular polygon is one among triangle, square, pentagon and hexagon. Each output lead line is connected in order to add up the output of each light receiving device.
