Abstract: An apparatus for automatically charging power using a television is provided to diversify a use of a TV by an external input terminal of the TV as a charging terminal of an external charging device. An apparatus for automatically charging power using a television includes an image input terminal(2), a voltage output unit(3), a micro-computer(5), a switching unit(9), and a voice input terminal(10). The image input terminal has 3 terminal switching structure switched according to a connection with an image output terminal. The voltage output unit outputs a voltage according to whether an image output cable is connected with the image input terminal. The micro-computer controls switching of the switching unit according to a voltage output of the voltage output unit. The switching unit switches operations of a power supply and a voice signal processor under the control of the micro-computer. Abstract: A method for controlling power of a television is provided to enable the removal of a retrace line on a screen of a television having an AKB(Automatic Kinetic Bias) function, thereby improving the convenience of a user. When a television is turned on, an image muting state is set(S10). An AKB current, which is outputted from a CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) by control of an AKB operator, is converted into a voltage value. The voltage value is compared with a predetermined reference voltage. If the voltage value is above the reference voltage, the set image muting state is canceled(S60).
