Abstract: PURPOSE: A hair care method containing applying a ceramide composition to hair and heating the hair to 60deg. C or more with a flat or round iron, and optionally rinsing the hair before or after heating is provided. It provides long-lasting cosmetic properties containing hair-smoothing effect, providing tonicity to hair fibers, regenerating effect, hair volume(texturizing) providing effect, detangling effect and softening effect without damaging hair. CONSTITUTION: The hair care method consists of: applying a composition containing 0.001 to 20% by weight of at least one ceramide composition within a cosmetically acceptable vehicle to hair; and raising the temperature of the hair by heating the temperature of the hair over 60deg.C or more using a flat or round iron, in which the temperature-raising stage is performed before or after the optional stage in which hair is rinsed and the temperature rise is 60 to 220deg.C, preferably 120 to 200deg.C. The composition is not removed through rinsing prior to an iron treatment stage. The ceramide composition is selected from N-linoleoyl dihydrosphingosine, N-oleoyl dihydrosphingosine, N-palmitoyl dihydrosphingosine, N-stearoyl dihydrosphingosine, N-behenoyl dihydrosphingosine, N-2-hydroxy palmitoyl dihydrosphingosine, N-stearoyl dihydrosphingosine or a mixture thereof.
