Abstract: PURPOSE: A block polymer is provided to improve styling power and softness when used in haircare products, to increase the impact strength of nail manicures and to improve the sustaining power of makeup compositions without causing any discomfort. CONSTITUTION: The polymer comprises at least one first block and at least one second block that are incompatible with each other and have different glass transition temperatures(Tg). The first block and the second block are linked together via an intermediate segment comprising at least one constituting monomer of the first block and at least one constituting monomer of the second block, and the polymer has a poly-dispersity index I greater than 2. The first block is selected from (a) a block with a Tg of 40 deg.C or more, (b) a block with a Tg of 20 deg.C or less, and (c) a block with a Tg of 20-40 deg.C and the second block is selected from a block of category (a), (b) or (c) and is different from the first block.
