    Abstract: PURPOSE: A dyeing composition capable of imparting stronger coloring by the combination of an oxidation dye, a two-electron or a four-electron oxidoreductase enzyme and a specific chlorinated or chemically modified chitosan. CONSTITUTION: The composition is prepared by including, in a dyeing medium, (A) preferably 0.001-20 wt.% of an oxidation dye (e.g. p-phenylenediamine, etc.), (B) a two-electron oxidoreductase enzyme (preferably in an amount of 10-10¬8 U based on 100 g of the composition) or a four-electron oxidoreductase enzyme such as laccase derived from Trametes versicolor (preferably in an amount of 10,000-40x10¬6 U based on 100 g of the composition) and (C) a chlorinated chitosan or a chemically modified chitosan of the formula (wherein R1 and R2 are each H or the like; and R3 is H, COCH3 or the like) preferably in an amount of 0.01-20 wt.%.
