Abstract: PURPOSE: A device for reducing SOx when burning intermediate quality emulsion fuel is provided to almost completely reduce the generation of SOx from a water soluble solution by generating metal emulsion materials by reacting an alkaline water soluble solution with emulsifying materials contained in the emulsion fuel, thereby reducing the impurities of the fuel. CONSTITUTION: An SOx reducing device when burning intermediate quality emulsion fuel includes a cylindrical main body(A1) filled with water soluble alkaline solution, an air remover(A2) mounted at a lower part pipe outside the main body, for providing emulsion oil after removing air to an emulsion oil inducing pipe(A3), a spray case(A4) positioned in the center of the lower end part and formed with a plurality of fine holes(A4') for receiving the emulsion oil to the water of the main body, an emulsion collecting chamber(A5) mounted at an upper part in the main body and formed with a plurality of concave and convex outflow grooves(A5') at an upper part and mounted with a slant partitioning plate(A6) for inducing the emulsion oil outflowing onto the water into an emulsion oil discharge hole(A7), a steam injection hole(A8) formed outside of the lower part of the main body, a steam pipe(A9) extended from the steam injection hole into the main body and connected to a steam discharge hole(A10) at a lower end, a cylindrical case(A11) for preventing the contact between the steam pipe and a steam pipe of the emulsion oil discharged from the spray case, a solution supply element(A12) mounted at an outside of an upper part of the main body and branched to the main body and the emulsion oil inducing pipe, two inspection tubes(A13) respectively positioned in the water and on the collected emulsion oil outside the main body, and a monitoring window(A16) formed of glass plate and illuminated by a lamp(A15) mounted outside the main body.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for emulsifying heavy oil and maintaining the emulsified oil in a state adaptable to combustion are provided to emulsify heavy oil and water so as to obtain emulsion fuel oil and to maintain the emulsion fuel oil in a state adaptable to combustion. CONSTITUTION: In a method and apparatus for emulsifying heavy oil and maintaining the emulsified oil in a state adaptable to combustion, the method is characterized in that a mixture made by adding an anionic surfactant to heavy oil containing a part of light oil and water is dispersed and finely granulated by means of an agitating/granulating device(A) to obtain W/O(water molecule in oil) type uniform particulate of 2 micron or less; the particulate is sprayed and floated from a bottom side of a vapor deposit chamber(B) containing aqueous solution in which small amount of alkali and metal salt are dissolved, so that a spherical W/O/W(water molecule in oil and oil in water) type composite emulsion is generated and the surfactant is deposited; at the same time, an emulsified fuel oil from which impurities in oil is eluted is passed through the agitating/granulating device(C) again, so as to further granulate the emulsion fuel oil into uniform particulate and stabilize it; the emulsion fuel oil is fed into a preheating storage chamber(D) maintained at 60deg.C; and low layer emulsion fuel oil with low quality is passed through the agitator again and recovered, while upper layer emulsion fuel oil with high quality is fed to a preheating device(E) and promptly fed to a combustor.
