Abstract: A method for obtaining space and time diversity gains and a system thereof are provided to measure signal strengths of plural received multi-path signals for a primary pilot channel by assigning generalization codes as 0, as measuring signal strengths of the multi-path signals for a secondary pilot channel by assigning the generalization codes as non-zero values. Generalization codes of at least one pilot channel are modified to measure signal strengths of each of plural received multi-path signals. Portions of the received multi-path signals are combined on the basis of the measured signal strengths. SNRs(Signal to Noise Ratios) of the received multi-path signals are measured. The signal strengths of the multi-path signals for a primary pilot channel are measured by assigning the generalization codes as 0.
