Abstract: PURPOSE: A wireless communication apparatus including an idle channel scanning function and communication method thereof are provided to rapidly execute communication through an idle channel by preferentially scanning a local idle channel by using a GPS(Global Positioning System) signal. CONSTITUTION: A selection unit(110) selects a path according to a feature of a signal. A control unit(150) selectively controls the path selection of the selection unit, the signal selection of a second frequency band, and the signal processing of a GPS signal. The signal of the second frequency band is selected by a signal processing unit(130). A data processing unit receives a current location through the GPS signal. The data processing unit controls the scanning of an idle channel in the second frequency band and a first frequency band according to channel information corresponding to the current location.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting idle frequency band and a method thereof are provided to detect idle frequency band by combining detection results of a plurality of unlicensed wireless communication terminals. CONSTITUTION: A communication device group comprises a plurality of unlicensed wireless communication devices(CR1-CR5) which compares a received signal level with a reference signal level. A master device forms a network which is previously established with the communication device group. The master communication device compares the signal level of the licensed wireless communication device with the reference signal level.
