Abstract: PURPOSE: A display device and a control method thereof are provided to automatically backup and restore the existing set up information when upgrading the display device by using an upgrade device. CONSTITUTION: An image processing unit (11) processes an image signal. A display unit (12) displays the image based on the image signal. An upgrade device, which upgrades at least one function of the display device, is installed at a connection unit. Upon the installation of the upgrade device, a controller (15) transmits the set up information, which is stored in a storage unit (14), to the upgrade device. Under the control of the upgrade device, the image is displayed on the display unit.
