Abstract: The apparatus optimizes 4-directional chain-codes representing the boundary of a binary character image. In the preprocessing procedure, unnecessary repeated unidirectional chain-codes and short length codes are eliminated and the groups of the equal length chain- codes having opposite directional chain-codes are purged for eliminating the duplication in the following next step. The optimizing procedure is implemented on the dedicated hardware for neal time processing.

Abstract: This invention can process memo without paper or pencil. The keyboard is connected between the scaning output terminal and the scaning input terminal in a central processing unit (CPU). The address bus of the CPU is connected to the keyboard and RAM, ROM through the gate array. The control signal of CPU is connected to the input terminal of NOR gate and its output is connected to the control port of ROM, RAM. The address output terminal is connected to the chip selection terminal of ROM2 through an inverter. The output of display controller (D) is connected to the driving part of a liquid crystal display device.

Abstract: The initializing method and apparatus supplement existing method using two sensors and has only a sensor with two combined function of sensing both carriage and daisy wheel. The improved method comprises checking steps (10,20,70,80) for the home sensor of daisy wheel, detecting steps (30,40) for output change by carriage-shifting to left, a carriage moving step (50) to the initial position, a changing step (60) for rotation direction of daisy wheel.
