Abstract: PURPOSE: An air conditioner with a cold and hot water generating unit is provided to not only heat and cool but also generate and supply hot water by installing the cold and hot water generating unit in the air conditioner. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner includes a compressor(202) compressing refrigerant into hot gas; a hot water generator(204) generating hot water through heat exchange between the hot refrigerant generated in the compressor and water; an outdoor heat exchanger(208) in which refrigerant and outside air exchange heat with each other; and a cold and hot water generator(212) generating hot water through heat exchange between refrigerant passing the hot water generator and water, and generating chilled water through heat exchange between refrigerant passing the outdoor heat exchanger and water. Carbon dioxide is used as refrigerant to reduce pollution. An indoor heat exchanger(218) is included to allow heat exchange between indoor air and hot water and chilled water generated by the cold and hot water generator so as to heat and cool an indoor space.

A second passage converting valve(18) makes the refrigerant of a low voltage flow in the rest of the cold and hot water manufacturing heat exchanger or the outdoor heat exchanger.
